Our people Sarah Mann
State and Community Policy AnalystSarah Mann, J.D., is the state and community policy analyst for Voices for Healthy Kids. She monitors and analyzes state legislation and legal research, creates policy language and manages legal technical assistance. Her efforts support advocates who are working to improve food and physical activity environments and promote health equity at the state and local levels.
Sarah happened upon a career in public health after working as a research assistant for the Public Health Law Center (PHLC) during law school. What started as a part-time job turned into a vocation; she fell in love with PHLC’s mission – health through the power of law and policy – and decided to pursue a career in public health policy (which saved her from her alternative career path as a tax attorney).
Sarah earned her Juris Doctorate from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota and two Bachelor of Arts degrees (political science and Spanish) from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.
Growing up in Nebraska means Sarah will forever be a Cornhusker at heart (Go Big Red!), but she currently lives in Colorado with her husband and son, where she enjoys the famous Centennial State pastimes of hiking, skiing and sunshine.
