Make healthy drinks accessible to all children

There are 16 teaspoons of added sugar in one 20 ounce bottle of cola. Shocking, right?

The American Heart Association recommends that children have no more than one 8-ounce sugary drink a week. Yet children today are consuming as much as 10x that amount, and children in families with lower incomes drink 2.5 times more than their peers in families with higher incomes! It’s no wonder when Big Soda marketing practices target those most at risk.

Sensible public policy like sugary drink taxes and requiring kids restaurant meals to be healthier can help. It’s time to make a change — our kids deserve better.
